Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Proof Camera ("we," "our," or "the App") is an iOS application that lets you capture photos and stamp each one with a verification badge containing the timestamp, location, and device model. This Privacy Policy explains how Proof Camera handles information when you use it.

Proof Camera is built on a privacy-first principle: everything happens on your device. The App does not have a backend, has no servers, contains no analytics SDKs, and never transmits any of your information to us or any third party.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information We DO NOT Collect

Proof Camera does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal identifiers (real name, email, phone number, account credentials)
• Photos or images from your device
• Camera frames, video, or facial images
• Biometric or facial recognition data
• Location data sent to our servers (see Section 4)
• Health, financial, or contact information
• Usage analytics, crash telemetry, or behavioral data
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or fingerprinting data

2.2 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored only on your iPhone, never transmitted:

• Shot counter — the number of photos you have taken with the App, saved in iOS UserDefaults so the App can track your free-tier usage.
• Purchase entitlement — a flag indicating whether you have purchased the unlimited unlock. The flag is set after StoreKit confirms the purchase with Apple. We do not see your Apple ID or payment information.

You can wipe all of this at any time by deleting the App.

2.3 Information Collected by Apple

When you download or purchase items inside the App, Apple may collect information as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. This includes purchase records, app download metadata, and optional crash reports if you have opted in to share them. We do not have access to this information.

3. How the App Uses Your Camera

Proof Camera requires access to your device's camera so you can take photos. We want to be transparent about how this works:

• The camera is only active while you are on the camera screen.
• Photos are processed entirely on your device. The verification badge (timestamp, location, device model, authenticity statement) is applied locally using Apple's Core Graphics framework.
• No photos, frames, or facial images are sent off your device by Proof Camera.
• Photos are not saved to your device's photo library. They are intended to be shared directly from the App and are discarded when you retake or close the App.
• You can revoke camera access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. The App requires camera access in order to function.

4. Location Data

Proof Camera stamps your photos with the city or area name where the photo was taken. This is a core feature of the App and is required for the verification badge.

• The App requests "While Using the App" location permission from iOS.
• When you take a photo, the App reads your current location, performs a reverse geocode lookup using Apple's CLGeocoder service, and stamps the resulting place name onto the photo.
• The reverse-geocode request goes to Apple's geocoding servers, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Your location is not sent to us.
• You can revoke the location permission in iOS Settings at any time, though the App requires location access to produce a complete verification badge.

5. Photos Are Not Saved to Your Device

Unlike most camera apps, Proof Camera does not save photos to your iOS Photos library. This is by design:

• Photos are captured, stamped with the verification badge, and presented for immediate sharing via the iOS share sheet.
• The photo exists only in the App's memory until you share it or retake it.
• This ensures the photo is sent directly from the camera without any opportunity for modification, reinforcing the authenticity guarantee.
• The App does not request access to your Photos library at any time.

6. In-App Purchases

Proof Camera offers a single non-consumable in-app purchase: Proof Camera Unlimited (USD 2.99). The App provides 5 free photos; purchasing the unlimited unlock removes the photo limit permanently.

• The purchase is processed by Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not see, store, or process payment information.
• Apple shares with us only an anonymized confirmation that the purchase was made and remains valid; this confirmation is verified locally on your device.
• You can restore your purchase at any time using the "Restore Purchases" button on the paywall screen — this re-checks your StoreKit entitlements with Apple.

7. Children's Privacy

Proof Camera is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. The App does not collect any data from any user regardless of age, and contains no advertising, social features, or external links beyond this Privacy Policy and our support email.

8. Third-Party Services

Proof Camera does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or social-network SDKs. The only external services touched by the App are operated by Apple:

• StoreKit — for processing the unlimited in-app purchase.
• CLGeocoder — for converting GPS coordinates to a place name for the verification badge.

9. Data Security

Because Proof Camera does not transmit any of your information off your device, there is no risk of a server-side data breach exposing your data through us. Your shot counter and purchase status remain under your control on your device, protected by iOS's standard sandboxing and device encryption.

10. Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over the App and your data:

• Delete — you can clear all App data by uninstalling the App from your device.
• Revoke permissions — you can revoke Camera or Location access at any time in iOS Settings → Proof Camera.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top. If a future version of the App introduces any data-collection features (analytics, accounts, sync), we will provide notice through the App or the App Store listing before that change takes effect, and update Apple's privacy nutrition label accordingly.

12. International Users

Proof Camera is available globally and is localized in English, Spanish, Japanese, French, German, and Portuguese (Brazil). Because the App does not collect or transmit any data, there are no cross-border data transfers and no region-specific privacy considerations beyond what is described in this policy.

Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By installing and using Proof Camera, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. License

Proof Camera grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices that you own or control, in accordance with the Apple Standard End User License Agreement.

3. Verification Badge

Proof Camera stamps live in-app captures with a verification badge containing the timestamp, location, device model, and an authenticity statement to indicate that the photo was taken and sent directly from the camera without modification. This badge applies only to photos captured directly inside Proof Camera. Proof Camera makes no claim about the authenticity of any photo not captured inside the App.

You agree not to misrepresent edited, manipulated, or AI-generated images as having been captured in Proof Camera, including by re-photographing such content through the App's camera.

4. Free Tier & Purchase

Proof Camera provides 5 free photos. After you have used all 5 free shots, you may purchase the unlimited unlock (USD 2.99) to remove the photo limit permanently. The unlimited purchase is one-time, non-consumable, non-recurring, and non-refundable except where required by law or by Apple's App Store refund policies.

5. Disclaimers

Proof Camera is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted. The App is a personal photo verification tool; it is not a forensic, legal, or evidentiary product, and the verification badge is not a substitute for any legal authentication of imagery.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Proof Camera shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
